Prince Bandar slam-dunks Tim Russert
MR. RUSSERT: What do you think the price of Saudi oil will be in October of 2004?
PRINCE BANDAR: I wish I know, but I can assure you now we've been working very diligently to make sure that the prices will go down below $28, and this is a public position we have taken. We convinced OPEC to agree with us on that.
"I don't understand; what's so wrong with oil prices going low? I thought that is good for America, American economy, for the American people, and it's definitely good for us and my country."
MR. RUSSERT: It may be good for George Bush's re-election.
PRINCE BANDAR: It may be good for anybody in the White House and the American people. And we don't see the difference.
Rush: Good News for America, Bad News for Democrats
RUSH: And there you have it, folks, slam-dunk: We don't see the difference between what's good for the White House and the American people.
"He's sitting here saying [paraphrasing], "What is this business about low gas prices? I thought you guys are complaining about how gasoline prices are rising. Everybody is going nuts, they're higher than ever, oil prices are, what's wrong with us taking them down? What's wrong with these oil prices coming up? I thought that's what everybody wanted."
"John Kerry really got sandbagged on this. He came out in favor... of high gasoline and oil prices."
"[John Kerry sing-song voice] "I'm aaagainst aaany secret deal that would lower ooooil prices. The American find thaaaat outrageous."
"There was no secret deal, but what is the power of the U.S. for, if not than to benefit the American people? And here's old John Kerry out there steadfastly opposed to that."
